Tossukkaiset vaihtoivat omistajaa lauantaina, kun kävimme viemässä tuliaisia äidille ja siskolle ja hakemassa auton kesärenkaat viimein Kouvostoliitosta. Ihan muuten vain pyysin Koukuttajaa kahville, koska olimme tulossa samoille nurkille. Ei minulla mitään taka-ajatuksia ollut, ehei, mitä nyt ojensin samalla Kahelivaihto II:n paketin.
Jee, tämä oli hauskaa jälleen kerran! Nyt vain odotellaan omaa pakettia.
The slippers exchanged owners last Saturday when we brought the souvenirs from Croatia to my mom and sis and picked up the summer tires from Kouvola. As we would just happen to be in the neighbourhood, I asked if Koukuttaja would join us for a cup of coffee. No hidden agendas whatsoever, no. I just wanted to give her the Silly Swap II bag.
Wohoo, once again this was fun! Now I'm just waiting for my package.

Ei mitään uutta - Nothing new
Neulerintamalta ei paljoakaan uutta. Haruni etenee vähitellen, mutta ei näytä vielä miltään.
Nothing new from the knitting front. Haruni makes slow progress but does not look very good yet.
Jane, thank you for the award and my apologies for being this late. I'll think about it and get back to it later. Also, thank you for asking about the Icelandic volcano--yes, we were affected. My husband was on a business trip in Budapest, Hungary last week and supposed to come back on Friday. Then the flights were cancelled and the airspaces closed due to the ash. He and his colleagues had no idea of when they would be allowed to fly back, so on Sunday they rented a minibus (with a driver) and travelled non-stop through Slovakia, Poland and the Baltic countries. It took more than 20 hours to get back home. I think almost everyone knows someone who was stuck somewhere and the magazines are full of amazing stories of how people got to wherever they needed to be.

Kuvia Kroatiasta - Pictures from Croatia
Ensin iski väsy, sitten iski tauti. Kuvaraportti Kroatiasta ja Hertsegovinasta ei siis ole kovin kattava.
First I got tired, then I got sick. This report from Croatia and Herzegovina is not very thorough.
Matkalla lentokentältä Dubrovnikiin taksikuski ehdotti pysähtymistä maisemapaikalla, jotta voisimme ottaa kuvia. Mikäs se siinä!
On the way from the airport to Dubrovnik the taxi driver suggested stopping so we could take pictures. We did not disagree.
Hotellimme Ariston sijaitsi Lapadin niemimaalla noin 4 km vanhasta kaupungista. Merinäköala oli mahtava!
Our hotel Ariston was located on the Lapad peninsula apprx. 4 kilometres from the old town. The view to the sea was great!
Meri oli turkoosi ja siellä piti tietenkin käydä uittamassa varpaitaan.
The sea was turquoise and of course I had to go and dip my toes.
Vanhaa kaupunkia ympäröivä muuri piti tietenkin kiertää heti ensimmäisenä päivänä.
A walk around the wall surrounding the old town was a must-do on the first day.
Torstaina kävimme päiväretkellä Bosnia ja Hertsegovinan puolella Mostarissa. Tuo on juuri se silta. Kaupunki on itse asiassa saanut nimensä silloista - "most" tarkoittaa siltaa ja "mostar" sillanvartijaa. Nykyisin sillanvartijan talossa toimii yhdistys, johon kuuluvat nuoret miehet hyppäävät sillalta aina kerättyään 25 euroa ohikulkijoilta.
On Thursday we went on a day trip to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is The Bridge. In fact, the town was named after the bridges--"most" means a bridge and "mostar" a bridgekeeper. Nowadays the bridgekeepers' house is used by an association whose members, young men, will jump off the bridge whenever they collect 25 euros from the passers-by.
Vanhasta kaupungista järjestetään venekyytejä läheiselle Lokrumin saarelle. Saarella sijaitsee kasvitieteellinen puutarha ja siellä on vanha luostari ja linnoitus. Ikävä kyllä emme ehtineet vierailla saarella kuin tunnin verran. Turistikausi ei ollut vielä täysin alkanut ja viimeinen laiva takaisin saarelta lähti jo klo 17. Olin ensin hieman nihkeä, mutta saaren kasveja olisi katsellut pidempäänkin!
You can get to the near by Island of Lokrum by boat from the old town. There're a botanical garden, a monastery and a castle on the island. Unfortunately we spent only one hour on the island. It was still off season and the last boat back to town left at 5 p.m. I was a bit suspicious first but I could have stayed there longer once I got there!

Lankakauppoja en löytänyt etukäteen yhtään, joten luotin siihen, että Jussi kääntyy kuitenkin jostain nurkalta sellaisen eteen. Niin kävikin. Ikävä kyllä kauppa oli kiinni ja sen valikoimatkin näyttivät pieniltä, joten emme käyneet nykimässä sen ovea enää toista kertaa. Olisikohan tuo ollut Od Puča -kadulla numerossa 18?
I did not manage to find any yarn shops in advance, so I trusted that Jussi will turn around the corner and end up in front of one, as usual. And so it happened. Unfortunately the shop was closed and the selection seemed small so we did not go back again. I think that might have been on the Od Puča street in number 18.
Mutta katsokaa! Kissa! Ja kissanpentuja! Niillä oli pesä kaupunginmuurissa heti pääportin vieressä.
But look! A cat! And kittens! They had a nest in the city wall right next to the main gate.

Lahjoja - Gifts
Oho, hups. Raportoin saamastani Ravelryn Kahelivaihto I:n paketista melkein kaksi kuukautta sitten! Tässä viimein vaihdon toinen puoli eli kuva Pikku-Tiinalle lähettämästäni paketista:
Well, oops. I told about the Silly Swap I in Ravelry about two months ago. Here's finally a picture of the packet I sent to Pikku-Tiina:
Paketin piti sisältää jotain kahelia, joten pohdiskelin sitä aikani ja keksin viimein. Lentävät lehmät ovat kahelia, joten hankin sellaisia - kaheliuden maksimoimiseksi tilasin myös lentäviä possuja ja lampaita. Lomakkeessa annettu satunnainen luku oli 75, joten paketti sisälsi 75 kahelmiakkia, lisäksi neuloin kolme kaheliinaa.
Samaan aikaan Ravelryssa oli käynnissä myös KuTu- eli kulttuurituotevaihto. Lähetin Päitsylille kurjan paketin. Kun toivelistalla ollut DVD löytyi vaivatta, loppu paketti rakentui kuin itsestään Victor Hugon Kurjien ympärille, kunhan sallin itselleni hieman anakronismeja.
The packet was supposed to contain something silly, so I pondered that for a while. Flying cows are silly, so I got those and to maximise the silliness, I ordered also flying pigs and sheep. The random number given in the sign-up form was 75 so I got 75 candies and also knitted three dishcloths.
At the same time I participated in the cultural product swap also in Ravelry. I sent a miserable packet to Päitsyli. She asked for a DVD and since I happened to find it, the rest was easy as soon as I allowed some anachronisms. The theme was Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
Omaa KuTu-pakettiani odottelin viime torstaihin saakka, koska osa sen sisällöstä viipyi postissa. Tässäpä se on:

Suklaasta puheenollen, ensimmäinen satsi päätyi parempiin suihin eli erään pienen puudelipojan masuun.
Talking about chocolate, the first ones ended up in one small poodle.
Paketin teemana oli Star Trek ja avaruus. Ravelryssa on enemmän hehkutusta, mutta noin pikaisesti voisin sanoa, että paketissa oli Lai-la-lai Yarnzin vaaleanpunaista lankaa, jonka nimi viittaa tribble-pitoiseen piirrossarjan jaksoon, sekä oranssia luomulammaslankaa ja Fyberspatesin Infinity Lace -silkkilankaa, jota on huisat 3 000 m / 100 g. Jos päätyisin koskaan vahingossa Big Brother -taloon, ottaisin sen mukaan ja neuloisin jossain nurkassa siitä pitsihuivia hyvin hiljaa, jotta kukaan ei huomaisi minua ja voittaisin koko kisan. The theme of the packet was Star Trek and space. I got pink Star Trek -related yarn handdyed by Lai-la-lai Yarnz (the name refers to an animated series episode with the tribbles) and some orange organic Finnsheep yarn also hand dyed by Lai-la-lai Yarnz and Fyberspates Infinity Lace with an amazing yardage of 3 000 m/100 g. If I ever found myself in the Big Brother house I'd take that yarn with me and sit in a corner quietly knitting a lace shawl so that nobody would notice me and I would win the whole thing. The KnitPro cable connectors are handy and the pins are cute, one has got a paw print and the other captain Kirk with tribbles.

Lopuksi voisin vielä mainita, että yllättävä täsmälahjonta onnistui myös jo kauan sitten: Pirkko sai kissantassuhuivin ja walesilainen työkaverini Rowan Purelife Dark Grey Welsh -langasta neulotun pipon. (Welsh - walesilainen -yhteyttäkään ei tarvinnut osoittaa sormella.)
Finally I could tell that I managed to surprise two people just like that: Pirkko got the cat's paw shawl and my Welsh colleague got a hat knitted from Rowan Purelife Dark Grey Welsh yarn. (And I did not have to underline the Welsh - Welsh connection.
Viime torstaina aloitin neulemiittihuivin. Viime yönä heräsin siihen, että jalkojani vasten tuntui jotain kylmää: Mini oli raahannut neuleen sänkyyn! (Ihme kyllä lanka ei ollut katkennut.) Kai sen voisi myös laskea lahjaksi? Päivällä lavastin kuvaa blogia varten (Mini avusti ystävällisesti, tietenkin) ja kuinkas sitten kävikään? Karvainen pyörremyrsky nappasi neuleen mukaansa ja hetken päästä se oli keittiössä.
Last Thursday I started a knitting meet shawl. Last night I woke up when I felt something cold at my feet: Mini had dragged my shawl to bed! (To my surprise the yarn was not broken.) I guess you could count that as a gift as well. When I tried to set up the situation for my blog (Mini friendly assisted, of course), what happened? A hairy hurricane caught the shawl and in a moment it ended up in the kitchen.
Huomatkaa, että seitsenvuotisjuhlallisuuksiin ehtii vielä osallistua! Mitä enemmän hivelet itsetuntoa, sitä paremmat voittomahdollisuudet ovat.

Hyvää pääsiäistä - Happy Easter
Hyvää Pääsiäistä! Meillä pyhät menevät juhliessa: Takku täyttää seitsemän! Koska kissan tarkkaa syntymäpäivää ei tiedetä, tarjoamme synttäriherkkuja aprillipäivänä, joka osui tänä vuonna vielä kiirastorstaille.
Happy Easter to all! We'll be celebrating: Takku turns seven years old! Because we do not know his exact birth date, we give him birthday treats on April Fools' Day which was also Maundy Thursday this year.
