Even more presents

This is the last knitting-related birthday present I'll show you this year. (It's not the last present I'll get, my sister promised to get me the new Depeche Mode CD as soon as it comes out later this month.)

This is what Jussi got me. I got this after my birthday because Jussi wasn't here then, he had to travel to Stockholm to a seminar (and no, unfortunately he did not have time to visit Anntorp's Väv).

I've been dreaming of Heirloom Knitting by Sharon Miller for a long, long time. Kristel had this book with her on the KIP Day in June and I thought of buying it ever since. I just thought that it was a bit too expensive as I always happened to buy something else.

Heirloom Knitting is a great book! It's full of lovely delicate lace patterns from the Shetland Isles: centers, borders, and edgings. It's got some patterns for mostly shawls of different shapes and instructions on designing your own shawl. I also like to read about the history, so the short introduction to knitting on the Shetland islands was very interesting. (I also liked telling Jussi about each reference to Vikings and the Medieval Times...)
