Mystery Shawl demystified
The Mystery Shawl is now finished. I'm thinking of reblocking it so I could get a nice scalloped edge, but I don't know how to proceed and where to put the shawl to dry. (Maxi the Cat likes to eat pins so it's not safe just to leave the shawl.)
I think the colours are more accurate in the left photo, it was taken outdoors. Guest starring Mini the Cat.
The Details
The pattern can be found in the Mystery Shawl Along Yahoo Group. The shawl was knitted according to five clues that were given at a week's intervals.
I really enjoyed the beginning of the scarf, clues 1-3 were really nice and it was amazing to see how the patterns were formed, clue 4 was a bit boring and to my surprise clue 5 was difficult. I don't know why but I had troubles in getting it right.
I think it was the rhythm, my knitting rhythm is somewhat different. Someone else could say that clue 5 was easy, after all, it did not have that many rows. I think it is the same as with phone numbers (if you remember any phone numbers on these mobile phone times): some phone numbers have a rhythm that makes them easy to remember and some don't. For example, I haven't learned Jussi's phone number yet.
I used about 200 g of multicoloured Estonian yarn and 5 mm needles. I had to start a new hank when I ran oout of the 150 g of yarn, the changing point is somewhere in the last lilac stripe and fortunately cannot be noticed.
The scarf before the possible re-blocking is about 240 cm wide and 105 cm tall. I love it! I think I'll take it to work and try to fish for compliments.
The final word from the Official Knitwear Inspectors
Frank: The shawlibility of this shawl is good. It's good to lay on.
Maxi: The yarn tasted good and the chewability was excellent. I recommend this yarn. 100% wool is always 100% wool!
Mini: The draggability of this shawl still needs to be tested. Should I drag it to the kitchen? To the hall? To the living room floor? Dragging a knitted item is important and needs to be carefully planned.

Hello Marjut,
I saw the link to your blog in the mysteryshawlalong list. Wow! Your MS is gorgeous. I made mine in red also, but a solid red. I have some pictures on my non-blog... :), but none yet of the finished shawl. I need to block it still.
The final word from the Official Knitwear Inspectors had me rolling on the floor laughing. Very funny and cute.
Take care,
Rosane.
