Tweediä tweediä - Tweed tweed
Minulla on jatkuva neulemiittiongelma. Neuleet valmistuvat (silloin harvoin, kun ne valmistuvat) juuri edellisenä iltana, joten miittiin on vaikea keksiä mitään mukaan otettavaa. Yleensä nappaan silloin sukkalankakerän ja puikot mukaan.
I have a continuous knitting meet-up problem. I finish my knitting (when I happen to finish something) just the day before so I have trouble figuring out what to knit in the meet-up. Usually I just grab a ball of sock yarn and needles with me then.
(Toisin kuin luulisi, Mini ei ole riivattu.)

Niin kävi taas toukokuussa. Hätäapuna olivat tällä kertaa Regia Tweed 6 Fädig ja 3,75 mm puikot. Hetken aikaa pohdittuani aloitin improvisoidut sukat kärjestä, 6-säikeinen Regia on melko lähellä seiskaveikan paksuutta, joten ajattelin, että ainakaan sukkien parissa ei mene pitkään.
That's what happened again in May. As an emergency solution I had Regia Tweed 6-ply and 3,75 mm needles. I thought about it for a while and started a pair of improvised toe-up socks. The 6-ply Regia is thick(ish) so I thought the socks should not take too long anyway.
Aloitus 10 silmukalla, 12 s per puikko, tiimalasikantapää, tavoitekoko 38. Lankaa kului noin kerä per sukka. Lopputulos on muuten mukava, mutta 3,75 mm puikot olivat liian isot ja neulepinta on hieman löysää. Paidassa se ei haittaisi, mutta sukat saattavat kulua turhan nopeasti. Lisäksi sukat venähtivät, kun pesin ne ja nyt ne ovat minulle hieman liian isot. Lanka oli mukavaa, mutta ruskeat tweed-pilkut tekevät neuleesta hieman suttuisen näköisen.
I started with 10 stitches, increased to 12 sts per needle, made a short row heel, aimed to size 38. One sock took about one ball of yarn. The end result is fine except that the 3,75 mm needles were too big and the fabric is quite loose. In a sweater the tension would be okay but now I'm wondering how the socks will last. Also, the socks stretched when I washed them so now they're slightly too big for me. I liked the yarn though the brown tweedy flecks make it look somewhat shabby.
Toisaalta kerrostalokyttääjämmekin hyväksyy.
On the other hand, our neighbourhood watch approves.
