Färsaarelaisia huiveja ja lankaa - Faroese scarves and yarn

Hupsis, nyt on jo lokakuu! Langanostolakko etenee hyvin, tosin olen onnistunut sujuvasti suuntaamaan ostohimoni muualle eli käytännössä rahaa ei jää talteen laisinkaan. Ostin mm. kirjan:

Färsaarelaiset huivit ovat kauniita ja niiden muoto tuntuu kätevältä: huivi on hieman v:n mallinen, ei tavallinen kolmio ja sen keskellä on suorakaiteen mallinen osuus. Ne neulotaan niskasta alaspäin - se on suosikkitapani! Myrna Stahmanin Stahman's Shawls & Scarves -kirjassa on 14 färsaarelaiseen tapaan neulottua kolmiohuivia ja niihin sopivat kaulaliinat, jotka ovat myös kätevän oloisia: suorakaidehuivin keskellä on joustinneuleosuus. Lisäksi kirjassa on huivien taustaa ja tekniikkaosuus ja ohjeita oman huivin suunnittelua varten.

The Faroese shawls and scarves are beautiful and their shape seems to be practical: the shawls are slightly v-shaped with a rectangle section in the middle. They're knitted from the neck down - my favourite method! Myrna Stahman's Stahman's Shawls & Scarves includes 14 patterns for Faroese-style shawls and matching seamen's scarf patterns. The seamen's scarves also seem pratical, they have a ribbed section in the middle. In addition, the book includes information on the background of the shawls and the techniques and instructions for designing your own shawl.

Langanostolakosta huolimatta tänne saapuu lankaa. Vaihdoin amerikkalaisen Denisen kanssa lankaa: hän tarvitsi Rowanin Rowanspun Chunkya, jotta saisi neuleensa loppuun ja huomasi Ravelrysta, että minulla on sitä. Vaikka lanka ei varsinaisesti ollutkaan tyrkyllä, pitihän pulassa olevaa kanssaneulojaa auttaa. Vaihdossa sain Filatura di Crosan Wavea, mukavan rouhean oloista villa-silkkisekoitetta.

Despite the yarn diet, yarn arrives here. I traded yarn with Denise in the USA: she needed some Rowanspun Chunky and noticed in Ravelry that I have some. Though the yarn was not directly available for trade, I could not leave a fellow knitter in trouble. I got Filatura di Crosa in exchange, it's a nice wool and silk blend.

Luxus Wind -takki etenee jotenkuten. Kohta voin jakaa sen hihoihin ja etu- ja takakappaleisiin. Toistaiseksi lanka on tuntunut mukavan pehmoiselta eikä ole valitellut, vaikka olenkin joutunut purkamaan sitä aina ad hoc -suunnittelun pettäessä.

The Luxus Wind cardigan progresses somewhat. Soon I can divide it to the sleeves and the fronts and back. So far the yarn seems lovely and soft and it has not minded ripping that much though I have had to do that every once in a while when ad hoc designing fails.
