A handy book of patterns indeed
My birthday's tomorrow. (I'll be 25. Again. I'm really good at turning 25 because I've practised it for so many years.) This is what my lovely, lovely little brother got me:
Ann Budd's The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns.
How is my brother so good at buying presents? Because he's so lovely. By the way, he's 24, so if you are interested... You can find him in Tampere where he studies administrative sciences. He's also very good at it. (Well, okay, I do have a wish list at Amazon.co.uk and I occasionally remember to update it.)
The book is... well... handy and it's got patterns. It includes patterns for mittens, gloves, hats, tams, scarves, socks, vests, and sweaters in multiple sizes and gauges. It's a good basic book if you want to quickly check the number of stitches needed when you are designing something and do not feel like measuring and counting. The book also includes some basic instructions for knitting.
The book is a good reference. What's really useful is that the measurements are both in centimeters and inches so that saves the trouble of converting them.
Didn't I say my brother is lovely and can buy great presents?
