Waiting for Midsummer

It's been one of those weeks again. You know, one of those weeks when you feel tired all the time and just want to sleep (or is it because you've been watching the Sex and the City reruns all night?), nothing seems to interest you, you keep forgetting things and seem more clueless than usually (if that's possible), you have a lot of beautiful yarns and amazing new books but you have no ideas whatsoever (sweater ideas, to be exact)... Then you knit another sock.

I have a Bulgarian colleague who borrowed me a book of Bulgarian handicrafts. There were no details, no patterns and no instructions, but the photos were amazing! The clothes (shirts, skirts, aprons...) were mostly embroidered but there were some knitted socks as well (maybe four pairs).

This sock pattern started to talk to me and I started working on it on Tuesday at the knitting meet-up in Leppävaara. Of course the original sock was much more intricate, knitted with thinner yarn (and I guess there was some green in the pattern as well but it was hard to tell from the photo when I tried to figure out the pattern).

So, it's the summer at its most beautiful and I'm knitting a mostly black sock! Do not let that bother you, but enjoy the Midsummer!

Hi Briana and hyvää juhannusta to you, too! (It's good to know that you still read my blog.) Also, now that you mentioned it, I guess I should have said "loaned" instead of "borrowed"... That's what happens when you write in a hurry, I did not realise that at all! :)

I love the your use of 'borrowed' about the book - it is very finnish-english, and I love to hear it! Also, the sock is very impressive, especially without a pattern.

Hyvää juhannusta!
