"I can get it for you"

Some of us are lucky. Some of us have their own offices. Some of us can buy a mini-sized stereo system and take it to their own offices.

Yep, that's what Jussi decided to do yesterday and guess what I said? "I can get it for you." They didn't have any stereo systems in stock, so they had to order one, and it was delivered to the shop today. Because Jussi had other resposibilities I thought, "Oh well, it's a mini-sized system. How much can it weigh? I'll take it with me on my way home."

Just guess how much it can weigh. A lot! At least a ton! What are stereo systems made of these days - lead? Well, at least the speakers are built in wooden cabinets and not in plastic ones.

Now my arms hurt and I can't lift them (or I can, but I don't want to), so there will be hardly any knitting tonight if I don't surprise myself.

But guess what I did? I plugged the stereo system to the computer and it works! I can play the audio files from the computer now.

Yes, that's the difference between engineers and linguists. When I go and buy a stereo system, I want to hear how it sounds. When Jussi goes and buys a stereo system, he wants to have a PC link via the USB port!

Okay, let's not bash engineers, at least not this one. The stereo system was kind of my choice: Jussi looked at another stereo set first (it was on sale) but then I pointed that one to him and said, "You can plug that one to your computer, isn't that what you wanted to do?" (And yes, we also listened to how the system sounded.)

And just guess which one of us selected our digibox-to-be? You can plug it to your computer as well (it's got two USB ports!) and we'll get it in March.

I'm a nerd! Oh yes, I'm a nerd!

To prove that I'm a knitting nerd, and that this blog discusses knitting and not USB ports only, I give you a picture of the first Fjord sleeve.
