Elementary, dear Watson?
If you were two balls of red Marks & Kattens Orkidé yarn, where would you hide?
I've looked and looked. (By the way, I will not post pictures of my stash here!) I searched the bags with extra balls of yarn and found nothing but a zillion ball bands. I searched the boxes with some more extra balls of yarn and found some more ball bands. (Why, oh why do have I kept them?)
I opened the pile of black boxes I have in the bedroom. I found four balls of white Orkidé and four balls of blue Orkidé. No red.
I looked into small plastic bags that I have all around the place and found two straws and two spools of yellow sewing thread in different shades. (What do you do with plastic straws, you might ask. Well, my sewing machine's spool holder is broken and a straw fits there just perfectly and holds the spool.)
I checked the bedside table drawers and found some more extra yarn, a WIP and a lot of dust bunnies. No ball bands! I checked the box where I keep my knitting machine parts (I haven't used the machine once in ten years) and another WIP. I searched the basket in the living room and found a third WIP and even more dust bunnies, but no ball bands and no Orkidé yarn.
Now, where should I look next?
(Note from the editor: I'll tell you more about the WIPs some other day. Yes, I have those and yes, they're old.)

Yes, learning how to use a knitting machine can be very hard and complicated. I expect it will take me a very long time to learn how to use mine. I hope I am able to produce something wearable by next June! :)
Well, I thought I would use the knitting machine, but no... It's just too complicated to use and takes too much space when you like to watch to watch TV and knit. :-)
Now that I think of it, I can't even remember the brand of the machine. Isn't that embarrassing?
Haven't used the knitting once in ten years! I am a handknitter but just purchased a Silver Reed knitting machine. I don't even have it yet and will be picking it up at the dealer's next Tuesday. Quite a big investment for the knitting machine, and I'm determined to learn how to use it, even if it takes me until next winter. I'll be holed up in my big "room of one's own" upstairs fighting with that knitting machine and won't come down until I have a knitting garment to show for my efforts, even if it's just a tiny sweater. But with luck, the knitting machine and I will get along just fine. :)
