Knitting (for a change)

Wow. At the knitting meet-up yesterday I got my very first skein of The American Yarn from Kimberli. Wooo! This is Red Heart Super Saver, and not just any Red Heart Super Saver but the multicoloured version in red, white and blue, 100% acrylic. So, now what am I supposed to do from this?

I also started a sweater, or a pullover. It's model 15 from the Fall 2004 issue of Vogue Knitting. I could not find a picture, but it's a ribbed polo neck with cable crossings on the waist (I did not do them) and a cable on the front. The cable starts when you start making the armholes and you knit it first from two and then from three balls so that there are small holes on both sides of the cable.

This is how it turned out:

I couldn't figure out how to knit the cable. I realised I had achieved in creating holes just where they weren't supposed to be and vice versa. So, I ripped the beginning of the cable and knitted the back instead.

Did I mention that I'm using ONline Cotton Stretch instead of the yarn in the pattern (forgot what it was) and that I'm knitting it in the round? I guess not. Maxi likes the yarn even though it's cotton and not wool.

But, some happy news: Jussi's chilis are finally in bloom and it's time for the cats to do their work and pollinate them (there's one red and one yellow, I don't what they exactly are):
